Dr. Alexander Savitsky is shown with UVP's iBox® Small Animal Imaging System in his lab at the Institute of BioChemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) in Moscow, Russia. Dr. Savitsky is one of the pioneers of red fluorescent protein (RFP) optical imaging. He also holds the distinction of discovering the widely used fluorescent protein, Ds Red.

Dr. Savitsky uses UVP's iBox for in vivo study of red fluorescent tumor models in mice. When asked about the features that distinguish the iBox from competition, he said that the iBox is equipped with a high-resolution camera and sensitive lens that are critical for capturing a good image for analysis. Along with the iBox, Dr. Savitsky uses the motorized BioLite™ Sour™e, a special lighting source that enables fluorescent imaging across a wide range of fluorescent proteins. Dr. Savitsky considers the overlay function (image compositing) of VisionWorks® software to be very straightforward and very user friendly.
